Calm Neutral Master Bedroom
This master bedroom in Knutsford had good light but a dated, patchy colour that never felt restful. The owners wanted somewhere calm to wind down, warm rather than cold, and a finish that would still look fresh in a few years.
The brief
Keep the room bright but make it feel soft and grown up, with a colour that flatters the morning light and works with pale bedding and oak furniture.
The preparation
We protected the carpet and furniture, filled the old fixings and hairline cracks, sanded the woodwork back to a sound edge and spot-primed before any top coat went on.
The finish
Walls in a soft warm neutral, the ceiling in a barely-there off-white so it reads clean without glare, and the skirting, door and architrave in a crisp low-sheen white to frame the room.
- Warm neutral walls in a washable matt
- Soft off-white ceiling to keep the light gentle
- Crisp white trim for a tailored edge
Two days from start to finish, cleared and hoovered, ready to make the bed back up the same evening.
